Maintenance
- In Southwest Florida's saltwater environment, annual service at minimum is recommended — more frequently for boats that are used heavily. Salt air and water accelerate corrosion, making regular maintenance even more critical here than in freshwater environments.
- A standard outboard service includes an oil and filter change, spark plug inspection or replacement, fuel filter replacement, gear lube service, impeller check, battery and charging system test, throttle and shift cable lubrication, zinc anode inspection, and an overall safety inspection.
- Impellers should be inspected annually and replaced every 2–3 years or 200–300 hours. In Florida's warm water, impeller wear happens faster. A failed impeller leads to overheating and can cause serious engine damage.
- Gear lube should be changed annually or every 100 hours. More importantly, gear lube should be checked after any propeller strike — a bent prop or shear pin failure can damage the seal and allow water into the lower unit.
Electrical & Electronics
- Intermittent electrical problems on boats are almost always caused by corrosion at connections, improper grounding, or failing wiring insulation. Our marine electrical diagnostics identify the root cause so you get a permanent fix, not a temporary patch.
- Old or deteriorated wiring is the leading cause of boat fires. If your boat is more than 15–20 years old and has never had the wiring inspected or updated, we strongly recommend a wiring inspection. Do not take chances with fire aboard.
- Yes. We install, mount, and fully configure Garmin chartplotters along with all other major brands. We run clean, protected wiring and configure the unit to work with your existing electronics and engine data.
